To the application procedureWho is this study course aimed at?
Objectives of the Course
The programme will deepen and broaden the research potential and the knowledge base of graduate engineers. Engineering Bachelor courses especially in electronic, mechanical and mechatronic engineering are the required entry qualification. The M.Sc. will provide advanced specialist training beyond the bachelor studies.
The course will provide research training in advanced engineering and engineering management. It will equip graduates with the skills to integrate advanced technology into a wide variety of industrial applications and research topics, e.g. control systems design, digital signal processing, machine learning, advanced production engineering, embedded systems.
The course will incorporate modern engineering technologies and major non-technical (e.g. management studies) elements, as both these areas are important aspects of modern industrial and engineering practice and research.
Target Group
The program is designed for engineering graduates from courses such as electrical engineering, electronics engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, systems engineering, etc. who are seeking for an international learning environment where they can broaden their technical skills in actual research relevant fields, such as machine learning, embedded system design, control system technology, additive manufacturing, advanced production engineering, etc. At the same time, half of the taught contents will focus on management and business topics, such that future graduates will be prepared for leadership roles in technology-focused companies. Please check the entry requirements for the course.
What career prospects does Engineering Management offer?
Graduates of this course are well qualified for a great variety of potential roles in tech-based companies. From pure engineering roles in the fields of electrical, mechanical or mechatronic engineering, over leadership roles in advanced engineering and engineering management, e.g. as section heads or department heads, to research oriented scientists and potential doctoral students. The international nature of course enables all graduates to work in intercultural environments.
How is the study course structured?
The Advanced Engineering and Engineering Management (AEEM) course offers a two-fold qualification where current research related engineering subjects are coupled with key business and management competencies. Therefore, the curriculum consists of technical modules, which are chosen according to the chosen pathway (electronic, mechatronic of mechanical systems) and business and management modules which are common for all pathways. The first two semesters consists of four modules each, while the third semester is reserved for the master thesis and the viva (colloquium). The actual order to the modules is defined, whether the course was started in winter or in the summer semester. The following table shows the curriculum of the course for all three pathways.
Curriculum Advanced Engineering and Engineering Management M.Sc.*
Winter Semester | Summer Semester | 3rd Semester |
---|---|---|
Pathway Electronic Systems: Signal Processing, Intelligent Systems, Technical Publications and Presentations, Business in Engineering | Pathway Electronic Systems: Microprocessor-based Systems, Advanced Control Technology, International Project Management, Systems Engineering | Master Project and Thesis Viva (Colloquium) |
Pathway Mechanical Systems: Advanced Production Engineering, Intelligent Systems, Technical Publications and Presentations, Business in Engineering | Pathway Mechanical Systems: Modelling and Simulation of Mechanical Systems, Advanced Control Technology, International Project Management, Systems Engineering | |
Pathway Mechatronic Systems: Advanced Production Engineering, Intelligent Systems, Technical Publications and Presentations, Business in Engineering | Pathway Mechatronic Systems: Microprocessor-based Systems, Advanced Control Technology, International Project Management, Systems Engineering | |
