Summary
The principle behind the advanced combined course in postgraduate Part Time Engineering and Enterprise Management in Soest at the South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences is to qualify engineers and students with other relevant Bachelor degrees with interdisciplinary technical and additional business economic knowledge. In this way, they have a more technically oriented focus than industrial engineers. In professional situations these engineers with a management qualification form a bridge between the technical and business economic areas of a company.
Students completing the Advanced Master Combined Course in Technical and Environmental Management earn the title Master of Engineering. The course is always based on the three pillars:- technical orientation
- process orientation and
- business orientation
The basis for this is a technical education at a university and the practical experiences gained in the workplace. The Master combined course lasts four or five semesters and builds on this basis. You can find further information on the three-pillar concept here.
The part-time course is an innovative course which can be completed while you work: In addition to self-study phases, which form approx. 70% of the course, there are also regular on-site learning phases with required attendance, which currently amount to approx. 30%. The optimally coordinated combination of self-study and on-site classes offers people in full-time employment the chance to earn new qualifications and improve their chances of promotion. And all that without taking time off work or interrupting their careers. The advantage of the combined course is that both the times and places of study can be flexibly adapted to suit your personal situation. You can find out more on the combined course concept here.
Target group
The Master part-time course is aimed at qualifying graduates with technical Bachelor degrees for managerial positions in technically oriented fields (e.g., production managers, logistics managers, development managers, technical managers in SMEs). This is done predominantly by teaching subjects from the fields of technology and business, rounded off with the field of processes. The focus is on the entire product life cycle from product conception to development to mass production and subsequent decommissioning (in the broadest sense: recycling).
The Master part-time course follows on from the initial vocational Bachelor degree in a technically oriented field and the first years in the workplace. This is done by initially revisiting existing and required basics, exploring them in more detail theoretically or practically and complementing them with new knowledge and recommended actions.
