Equality implies that all persons have the same opportunities to arrange their lives, to achieve their individual goals and to experience acceptance and esteem.
Women* and men* are legally equal to each other. Nevertheless, in practice, there are still some structural and cultural obstacles preventing the equality of women* and men*. The experience of these obstacles depends on many different factors, including nationality, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age or physical abilities.
Considering all these and many other factors, the Equal Opportunities Team at the South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences is committed to equal opportunities and equality for all members of the university. This includes monitoring structures at the University of Applied Sciences regarding their effects on gender equality, initiating projects and measures that promote gender equality, and advising on and providing resources for gender equality-related topics and issues.
